Phillip Hutchinson Police Chase and Shootout in Denver, Colorado (1988)

On February 9th 1988, in Denver, Colorado, a fleeing bank robber, Phillip Hutchinson, robs a bank, kills a cop and kidnaps an old man to hold as a hostage. He is chased by the police and a news helicopter, which films the entire incident. During the chase Hutchinson kills a cop by running him down. The cop was detective Bob Wallace. Hutchinson is later stopped by the news helicopter itself and police are forced to open fire on him at the end of the chase resulting in Hutchinson’s death. This is one of the first police chases ever to be recorded.
