The suspect drove into a Shell gas station on Vermont Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard, where he pulled up next to a vehicle parked at a pump. That’s when police fired into the vehicle.Two people appeared to be fueling up at the pump immediately next to where the shooting occurred.The driver of the vehicle parked next to the suspect’s car could be seen crouching against the gas pump, his arms covering his head as shots were fired.The pursuit began around 6:15 pm in El Sereno after a suspected carjacking at a gas station near Valley Boulevard and Eastern Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police.The suspect — described as a white or Latino man in his early 20s — reportedly took a blue-green 1993 Saturn; the owner of the car is safe.The chase lasted about an hour and took police on the 101 Freeway before the suspect drove onto Hollywood surface streets.
